Many countries use fences, video cameras and land mines along borders, soon machines guns will be mounted on towers, guided by lasers and ordered by programs to fire at targets within certain parameters.(people)
Should they be used on borders, should they be used at military installations, prisons and/or private areas?
Please indicate if, where and why.
I forgot to add soldiers with guns are used along borders too!

I know they had a lot of nukes trained on this country and I assume that important military installations like Cheyenne Mountain and such would be the first to go, along with our own missile silos.
I also assume that major cities were targets as well.
Does anyone know WHICH major cities? – aside from the obvious ones of New York and Los Angeles.
Is there any way to get a list (or an educated guess) of what their targets were?

I want to get the Well D94S as my first airsoft rifle. But my friends don’t have an airsoft gun so I can’t play with them and I don’t want to just shoot at targets.

I saw the preview for this movie just a while back and im not even sure if its out in or out of theaters yet. I think Owen Wilson is in it, and its about the military creating a weapon that is controlled without actually flying it but then it gets struck by lightning and begins selecting its own targets. Thanks for any help ahead of time.

Standing in Walmart today, I was reading a gun magazine left by the cash register.
In the magazine, there was literal ‘flood’ of articles and advertisments, most full-page, of military-style rifles. LOTS of various scopes, some flashlights, and a variety of accessories. Very few guns.
Reading that, I assume that in the military, most of your targets are a distance away. But what about fighting in towns and cities. A handgun, or the rifle with all the accessories?

Seeing as it eliminates the need for holding your breath to get an accurate shot, which makes it easier to take out multiple targets; also it doesn’t really sacrifice too much range. Doesn’t it all add up to cheap tactics?

I am a graduate student from India attending graduate school in the US. Part of my research involves new methods of computer and gyroscopic stabilization and aiming mechanisms for devices that need to sit absolutely still while in operation, and devices that must aim at small targets from a distance.
I have also done research on my own. I am trying to develop a stabilized platform for military applications, but I need more funding for the production and research. I am close to building a device that could stabilize and auto-aim a firearm for any purpose. For example, this device will guide a fired round to its targert with far greater accuracy than any human marksman, and can be pre-set to fire at a certain time or a certain number of times at the same target, or can be programmed to search for different targets. It will weigh as little as 5kg.
How can I contact a US military procurement officer for information on sales contracts and acquisitions? This is a good product.

Hi YA!
I just got back from my summer camp, and I took a liking to riflery. With the .22 cals there (They are really crappy, Anshutz rifles), I was shooting 90′s and 91′s on 50 ft competition targets, but I was shooting them at 75ft. (25m).
For someone that has never shot before, the people there (all ex military) thought I was a great shot. I even made the team and shot with kids 3 years older than me. (And yes I shot freehand, bipods are for wimps). I made it from Pro Marksman to Expert (and almost Dist. Expert) in 1 month.
So… One of the instructors emailed my parents and suggested I get an air rifle to train with so I can get better. My dad is cool with the idea, and my mom thinks its a good idea to have a unique sport for college, but 1 set of my grandparents are NRA haters and are really opposed to the idea, and the other set is also opposed because of the idiotic stuff my uncle did with his BB gun as a kid.
I’m just wondering how I should convince my parents. They know that I am very mature and would exercise extreme caution, and only shoot it when they are around, but it is still not enough.
Anybody know any other ways to convince them? I have already offered to buy it and the ammo with my own money. Ohh and this is an air rifle (supped up BB gun, not a real rifle).
P.S: I’m 13
Thanks!

I am interested in getting a rifle, more for long range target shooting than hunting. I’m thinking .308 or .338 Lapua. Any comments on Caliber and/or grain would be most welcome.
I have shot plenty before, but haven’t done much long range shooting with a scope. My question is, if I get a rifle like a Remington 700, or a Ruger M77 Hawkeye, should I be able to hit targets beyond 1,000 yds? I believe that it’s the shooter not the gun that makes the difference.
Any advice on ammo, optics, technique, or rifles is welcome!
Thanks!

Thank God for gun control still providing unarmed targets for the slaughter. This latest mall shooting is proof control fails all people. 50 years ago this would not have been so bad. Most adults would have been armed and able to stop any such event from becoming a mass murder. Proof is in the pudding. Guns don’t kill people, People kill people. If guns were fully legal this would have ended within 2-5 shots at which time only the shooter would have been dead not the 8 plus the shooter that had to die due to a lack of social responsibility to own a firearm and know how to use it. All of our founding fathers were in full support of all people owning and knowing how to use military firearms to protect themselves at all times. Protecting the people is not a job of the police or the government, it is the duty of the people. As the 911 calls prove there was tons of time expire before security or the police responded. Thank you Clinton, Bush and the Patriot Act for failing us all.

Might be a stupid question, yes. I’m a freak about the military, yet I do not know much of the differences between these three materials. Y’see, I’m getting one of these for my birthday, so what’s the best one to get? I’m planning to shoot small targets such as soda cans, fruit, or the occasional bird. Can you suggest any models?

Lately, I’ve become very fascinated with snipers, their rifles, and all the variable elements involved with making a long-range shot. So much so, that I would like to know where to start looking for information on purchasing one, and if there are any tutorial dvd’s or even classes outside of the military to train in this skill. No, I don’t have an enemy I want to take out (lol), I just want to take it up as a hobby.
Also, I will never shoot a live target. I respect animals more than humans, so it’s canned fruit and wood-targets for me

My friend likes to collect old stuff from WWII. He goes from garage sale to garage sale looking for old rations, guns, and equipment. He recently picked up a Springfield ’03 sniper rifle with documents, scope, used original targets, and pictures of the original owner using it in the field. He bought it for 70$, with all that extra stuff. He wants to know the value.

I’m 18, no criminal record.
Do you need a certificate of some sort just to purchase a gun? i don’t intend to hunt only to shoot targets at the range,
