As in can I work through the Corps to make my way into something like weapons testing, or is there a specific division? Or would I need to go with another military service? Thanks in advance.
My brother and i have always wanted to get our gun licenses and permits since we were younger. Now that we noticed that it would be right to have a firearm in your own help incase of home invasion, he has decided to go out and obtain his firearm license.
We know of a few gun shops around town, and i am sure they would greatly help him obtain his license/permit, but before we go in there looking like we dont know squat about firearms, and looking like idiots, we want to know what are the Appropiate Steps/Permits to obtain first before anything?
One of my comrads who was in the military has personally told me much about firearms and the laws here in california, but i just want to be sure. I know he told me about a handgun safety instruction or something like that?
He only wants a firearm to have at home and occassionally the shooting range, we will not be doing any hunting. Thanks in advance.
I’m considering this field in the US Army, but I have questions.
Is it true that if I still lack training or still don’t know much about gun repairing, that they would sent me to a school? Or would they help me go to a school to help me learn more about it?
Would I also go overseas and help there if I get in? I do not really mind if I get sent. Also, are there something like "levels" where I can work my way up the ranks? And even work my way up the armaments? Or do I stick with the gunsmith that I can do? Like only pistols or only rifles, or something else. Thanks in advance for any help!
I believe that its a v2 ive had it for its seems like forever and the bolt is scratched up and i want to make it better and stronger… any suggestions, parts or tips? they would b greatly appreciated!
I’ve been wanting to join the military sense I was a teenager but i simply had too many obligations to make the commitment. Now I’m 24, have an associates degree and am free of all responsibilities binding me down. I’ve spoken to a few recruiters but it seems to me that they are all so biased toward their respective branches ("join mine its the best!") that i can’t seem to get some good solid unbiased input.
I know I’ll have to retake the ASVAB but assume that i score at least as well as I did when i took it in high school – i was told i scored high enough on all parts that i would be able to take any job i wanted. For the sake of this discussion lets assume that the suggest job is also available.
Im very tech inclined (I’ve worked doing pc repair/custom building and networking) I’ve also worked doing construction (mostly carpentry) my last job was as a wedding photographer. I’m an avid outdoorsmen and i often kayak and rock climb. Physically, I’m in excellent athletic shape and have strong endurance. I’m a hands-on kind of guy, thus the only thing i know i don’t want is a desk job.
I have no fear danger, or hard work, and i openly embrace even the most difficult of challenges head on. Ill admit I’m a bit nervous about taking a military position that will leave me offering nothing to the civilian work force once my service is over. Assault rifle marksmanship offers little to the civilian life, or so they say.
thanks in advance.
my understanding was that to be an officer 120 credit hours are required. I have only 70, so unless i’m missing something or misunderstand something, then i can not be an officer nor pilot. i think my 70 credits will only get me as far as E-2
I guess i want a job with some action, but also has some sort of reasonable transition into the real world once my service is over.
I’m going back to the army recruiter this week, maybe ill have come up with something.
i have a bolt action l96 sniper rifle and it was raining a bit today and i was outside shooting and the lube on the silver part of the bolt thing was all soapy like when i was finished so how can i clean the old lube off and re-apply the new lube? thanks in advance
My boyfriend obtained a gun while in Afganistan. We do not know what kind of gun it is and would like to find out. please bear with me I know nothing about guns. He did say it was a flintlock rifle. It has tons of mother of pearl all over it. It has a Lion imprinted above the trigger. Apparently the military said the did not know where exactly it came from but that the russians may have built it for the afgans. this of course makes the rifle old. I do have lots of pictures of the gun. If you know or know of any way to figure out exactly what this gun is or you would like to see it I can email you the pics. I would love any help I could get on this matter. Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I was interested in buying an automatic assault rifle. I live in GA(Georgia lol). I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight on what I must do to legally to own a fully automatic rifle. Let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks for the input. Honestly, its disappointing to know it must be prior to 1986. This is ridiculous. Soon, all fully automatics will disappear
I came across the acronym SSKP but didn’t see it defined anywhere. I could probably remember it if I heard it. Anyone familiar with this? Thanks in advance.
My husband was diagnosed with epilepsy last year, about a month before his unit was sent down range. Yesterday he found out (for the dozenth time) that he’s supposed to be deploying soon. They gave him an exact date this time.
There is a neurologist he sees, and the division surgeon who both have said, and put in writing, that he is NOT to be deployed, unless it’s as a noncombatant, and voluntary on his part. After all, he can’t hold or fire a military weapon, or drive a military vehicle, or even drive his POV until at least October.
He did not volunteer. I’m trying to reach the division surgeon and the neurologist to find out if his profile has changed, and if so, why? He still has the condition, even though it’s being controlled by meds.
Who else can I go to? I’m worried about my husband’s health. If he has another seizure, he’s getting med-boarded, and that’s the last thing we need or want.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Thanks everyone! His nondeployable status is not permanent. He’s currently on a "trial of duty"…basically to make sure that his medication works. There is one update: His neurologist, who is usually booked solid for at least six weeks, made time to set my husband a special appointment to update his profile. He (the neurologist) is pretty angry about the whole thing, because my husband’s commanders have already tried this a dozen times. I have some words for them, but I don’t want my hubby to lose rank over ‘em, LOL.
I want to be involved and working around firearms, and a little info about me – just graduated high school, and I’m an introvert..but not anti social! I really do well when I work by myself, but if there’s team effort, I’ll step up too. I love shooting ever since I was a kid, and a month after graduating, I decided that I want to work in this area. I’ve thought about other jobs, like computers and technology, and the medical field, but many of my family members work with firearms or related fields, and I guess that I’m in a tradition, and I love it. Many of my uncles and cousins and even one aunt are either veterans or deployed. My aunt was in the Air Force, and 2 Marine uncles and 1 uncle was a soldier, and 4 cousins deployed, one Navy, rest are Marines. The rest of my family are either gunsmiths and ranch "peeps", because we have LOTS of chicken.
I guess I wanted to explain all of that because I have these two paths – the Military or Family business. I know that it’s my choice, and I’ve talked to my family about this, and they help me out as well. But my question is, Is there other areas where I can work with Firearms? I can only think of a few–
Military or the family business. Law Enforcement. Forest/Border worker.
Can anyone please point out other jobs? Thanks in advance

I’m switching from reserve to active duty army after college, and was thinking of going into infantry. I was wondering if you can modify your issued weapon with any accessories (optics, grips, lights, etc.), if you were not issued them so long as the parts and the rifle met mil-spec after the conversion (like personally buying appropriate gear for it). Any details on this would be helpful, I’d feel kind of dumb asking a CO about this. Thanks in advance.
First off im not asking for information on how to perform illegal activities im just interested in puchesing a M249, MK19 and a military style M4 with an M203 attachment. I cant seem to find any website with them for sale and I havent found a store that can order them. ANY information would be helpful. I also couldnt find any information if they are illegal for civilians to own if they I just hope there not, Thanks in advance
What is the best gun thermal can go on besides any sniper rifle?
Example
MG4 w/ Grip & Thermal
Bling
Stopping Power
Steady Aim
Thanks in advance
Ta1mat, seeing that thermal is the only way to get a sniper scope on a gun that isn’t a sniper, i don’t see how that makes me a noob for using thermal, if i could get an ordinary sniper scope i would, think before you say retarded answers
I’m looking to buy an Airsoft sniper, are there any suggestions as to which one I should buy? Please be specific, including the brand and somewhere to buy it. Preferably below 0 and under 500 fps. Thanks in advance, best answer will get 10 points.
I would like to spend 100$ for a good quality (preferably green) laser for an airsoft sniper visible to at least 100ft out during the day. Would 5mW be an acceptably good power? I was thinking about either the Nc Star green laser, or the utg tactical green laser, both of which seem to be powerful as described by reviews. Thanks in advance.
I’m doing a feature article for a school assignment on WWI military advancement and its impact, but I’m having some trouble.
By military tech changes I mean changes in things such as strategy, intelligence gathering and weapon & military vehicle.
Thanks in advance, I really need this info! 10 points!
Oh, guys I’ve already got plenty of info ABOUT the changes and new developments etc. but what
i needed to know was how they affected people’s ideas and views of war.
Before I met him, he had a few assault and battery charges, 2 misdemeanors, 1 felony. And he also had possession of a gun, which I think was a felony. They are all from at least 3 or 4 years ago. Since then, he has been very good. But he is thinking about joining the Navy or something in the military. Would they take him? Are there restrictions about a criminal background? If so, what are they? Thanks in advance.
to learn about the pro's and con's of each as well as the biggest mistake all the "heavy artillery" guys make when choosing "terminator ammo"!
(Hint: It has nothing to do with "stopping power" but it's nearly as important to your family that you get this right! Not doing so could cost you a lifetime of grieving that no law-abiding family should suffer...EVER!)Read More...
