What is the best rifle to get for home security?

March 28th, 2011 by eranio

I grew up with guns. My father had Rugar, Winchester, some military issue rifles. We had several pistols but I had to give them to my aunt because they are illegal to have in my home state. My grandmother had a rifle that could be used by a woman or a man and had a clean shot and not that much kick back but the rifle was so old it has rusted away and is useless. It had been lost in the basement and ruined.
What would be a good brand of rifle to get that I can purchase that I can use and my girlfriend can use for home security? I was looking into Winchester or Rugar.
I am so dumb. I think the weapon that Nana had must have been a shot gun. I remember Dad showing me how to use it as a kid. That must be it. It was shorter barrel than the weapons he used for hunting that were the rifles.

Military Equipment Information?

March 24th, 2011 by eranio

I want to go to the Naval Academy (I’m nervous) but my why I’m making this question is because I want to know about ultimate military jets and weapons. And it can be jets and weapons used throughout the entire military. Also do all branches of the military use the same weapons or are there certain weapons that only some of the branches use?

Does anyone believe the United states is engaged in the manipulation of free markets through military force .

March 20th, 2011 by eranio

That we promote dictators around the globe when it suites our purposes and then topple them as needed .
That the democracy’s we support often use a police state to control the people and the weapons and technology to do this is provided by our Military contractors .
That we will attempt to over throw an elected leader in a democracy if we do not agree with his policy’s and that many of our trading partners oppress their people .
Places we do business in and governments we support that have a history of killing citizens to maintain control .

War is a business and Bush is its biggest supporter .

Why and how are the Insurgents kicking and hurting the most powerful Military on earth?

March 19th, 2011 by eranio

Insurgents are rag tag….Have basic weapons….Wear blue jeans and tennis shoes….and fight for free…..The USA military is the most powerful on earth…Have the most advanced weapons….get paid big time….and yet can’t beat the rag tag insurgents. Will the USA soon eat crow and feel shame? ( Like they did in Vietnam )
Military pay big time…OK….The pay is big compared to the pay the Iraqi people get.

Are they just like, "Hey you’re pretty good with that." or do you get taught your specialty ahead of time. If so, do you choose what weapons or division when you enlist?

Is there any way you can choose what type of weapons (I.e. Pistols, assault rifles, etc.) you get to use in combat? Like could you pick up an AK and use it throughout your campaign? Also, does anyone know if there have been any confirmed kills with a .22??

How did WW1 relate to total war (military)?

February 27th, 2011 by eranio

How did WW1 embody the characteristics of total war in a military sense (not domestic, ex. propaganda)?

Total war – the devotion of a country’s entire resources to the war effort

I’ve come up with several examples, but I can’t really think of anymore. Here’s what I came up with so far:

- German use of U-boats and unrestricted submarine warfare
- Huge armies
- Production of new weapons and technologies like the tank, airplane, and poison gas in order to win

Anything else?

Thank you!

When you're in the military and you retire, do you keep your rifle and handgun?

February 26th, 2011 by eranio

I understand you have to be in the military for a number of years to be able to keep your weapons. So I’m asking how long you have to stay in the military and for other information about the question.
