K I like military type rifles especially ones that use 7.62 ammo (Ak-47, Sks, FN FAL mosin nagant etc.) I hunt deer and was wondering what rifle like this has large enough ammunition for deer. 7.62 would be alright except i need more range than most of these rifles offer. I read somewhere that the FAL comes in .308 but im not a big fan of .308. the wwii springfield rifle is 30-06 which some people i know like for deer. any suggestions would be awesome thanx.

Found this old printers cut in the belongings of a late relative – I know he was in WWII but don’t know what branch. This may give me a clue. The little numbers are, I think, just an old catalog number, from the old days of typesetting
I’ve seen crossed antique rifles before, but never automtic ones, as these seem to be.

I need to know what the United States used for an assault rifle. I know that during WWII they used a form of the BAR assault rifle but did they have any new ones after that?

Germany could produce the MP40 in WWII. So why didn’t they replace the 9mm with, say the more powerful 7.62mm, to use in combat fields? Isn’t sub-machine and assault rifles are of the same configuration, just with different cartridges?

not be as good?
The newsmen are saying that the Marines prefer these scopes on their rifles. That the company that produces them is the best. Wonder why?
I am talking about the current news where atheists are in an uproar because for years this Christian owner has been putting Bible verses on rifle scopes used by the US military.
Joy of Jesus: I love your answer already.
If the Koran or Origin of Species was on this scope it would not be worth buying and would never have a huge US military contract. Honoring the Lord will always have its rewards.
Yes, they are reporting that the marines prefer these sights. Maybe the Bible verse will keep you from being captured.
The Word of God is powerful, my friend.
Evidently, the multi-billion dollar company knows that the Word of God is powerful. If I were a soldier, I would want God’s help above any other help. God is the only protection that any man ever has.
I have a friend who was a retired General but in WWII he would tell you that he stayed in prayer with the Lord’s name constantly on his mind, because that was his shield against the enemy to bring him through the war. He carried Scripture verses on him.
The military continues to do business with this company because they make the best sights in the industry. God has blessed this company.
The best sights in the industry and you want this industry torn down because of a small Bible verse. I believe the soldier will tell you to give him the best sight for his rifle. Give him whatever he needs to keep him alive.

After reading a brief history about the Marines during the island-hopping campaign, it stated that some of these Marines were equipped with ‘blinder guns’ while they scouted the beaches prior to beach landings. What exactly were these blinder guns. All the searchy engines keeps showing laser jammers; after some research, no laser jammers were produced (even for military service) until the 1950s, years after WWII. So they aren’t the same! Any WWII vets care to enlighten me with an answer?

I’m asking about brands and eras. How does the colt differ from the remington from the ithica? What kind of accuracy is typical of these wartime models? What changes were made from the WWII to the Vietnam guns?

Back in WWII we used everything our own and we were great! Now we use stuff from europe and we are not that great anymore. We should go back to only useing American built guns. Like the M60 M14 M1911 and all those wonderful weapons. ( I know we barrowed some Nazi technolodgy, but they were realy good at making guns. )

when it is the gun owners that are protecting our rights from the government. Without the guns, we would have no rights.
The military is the government and business thugs, or strong arms. Congress never declared war.
Oh I’m sorry girls, I thought the constitution had some meaning. It was not designed to protect us from other countries, but from our government! Grow up!
Some ding bats think that todays military is the same as WWII’s. That was our last declared war!

My friend likes to collect old stuff from WWII. He goes from garage sale to garage sale looking for old rations, guns, and equipment. He recently picked up a Springfield ’03 sniper rifle with documents, scope, used original targets, and pictures of the original owner using it in the field. He bought it for 70$, with all that extra stuff. He wants to know the value.

Military campaigns have only been successful against nation-states, not against ideas. For example, the Japaneese defeated the Philippines government in WWII, as did the NAZIs in France, but the ideology of freedom caused each agressor to eventually lose. The Russians learned this lesson in Afghanistan, and the US learned it in Vietnam. So why are we trying to once again tilt at windmills in Iraq? You cannot impose Democracy at gunpoint.
