i know it won’t happen with a democrat as a president because they always cut military spending.But right now there are two weapons who might take it’s place, the Xm8 which they are still testing and the scar-H which right now special forces teams are testing them in the middle east.

So what Assault rifle do you think will I am thinking the SCAR because of the tests the performed for the XM8 program which was canceled. The XM8 got 1st and the SCAR second in least stoppages.

well last year i heard them say something about in 2008 finally replacing the M4. then they came up with teh XM8 but that got canceled….but i havent heard anything about teh FN SCAR being canceled..do you guys really think the FN scar is gunna take the place of the M4 and M16???? i REALLY hope they dont replace the M16 ill be really dissapointed…do whatever u want with the M4 but not the M16 lol

so does anyone know the REAL story behind the replacement situation?

also i heard theyre replacing the M249 with this thing called MK46..is that true also?

gave i highly disagree but u show a good point. althrough the AK 47 is HIGHLY powerful, it lacks accuracy and the violent recoil throws it off, u would not win a distant firefight in 300 meters and over if u had an AK. that is why our military rejected the AK in the first place..way innacurate

The XM8 fared far better than the other assault rifles fielded by the US Army as potential M4 replacements, with just 127 stoppages (out of 60,000 rounds fired) as opposed to the HK 416 (the AR currently used by 1st SFOD-D and DEVGRU) with 233 stoppages and the FN SCAR with 226. The current service rifle, the M4 scored a pathetic 882 stoppages. It seems to me like the M4/M16 even with SOPMOD attachments are antiquated weapons and have no business in 21st Century warfare when other weapons are clearly superior and feasible, so it makes no sense to me that with all the money the US government spends on defense, that they could at least ensure our troops have the most advanced weaponry available. Of course this could just be like the US Army’s decision not to adopt the Dragon Skin body armor, even though it was clearly superior to the Army’s Interceptor armor; hell if it’s good enough for Generals on the field and the CIA, it should at least be as good for the Special Forces or 75th Ranger Battalion am I right? As someone who plans to get commissioned into the US Navy after college I would at least like to serve in a military that ensures that it’s infantry forces have the best equipment available regardless of the cost.

Alright 1st question is, when does the military plan on releasing the XM8?
2nd- Has anybody been through Special Forces Training? and if so what did it contain of?
A broken down description would be most appreciated!
