And fight with what exactly. Their helmets, hope that a bullet will ricochet back and kill the enemy.

No brainer- punish the soldier, not everyone else.

I don’t think it would be a good idea to ban guns in the military.

Were the 5 soldiers, 5 American Soldiers, or 5 Iraqi Soldiers. This might be a lot to do about nothing.

Punish the shooter and develop stricter rules in the military regarding weapons ie: when live ammo is given to soldiers, when soldiers are allowed to have their weapons, etc
I can guarantee you that weapons will never be taken away from military personnel. In order to train to be able to fight it’s just not reasonable to do so.

These soldiers were / are burnt out . Been there too long .

Hah! Guns are very regulated in the military. Let’s say you are a soldier in the US Army and you would like to purchase multiple hand guns, and rifles, say several a week to collect, and keep in your quarters. Not gonna happen is it?

we should definitely ban guns in the military. When we go to war, we can throw rocks and sticks at our enemies.
Punish the act, but not the policy.

Most US soldiers are the lowest base elements of their society. I guess the solution is to employ better quality soldiers. However, there are no guarantees that will stop any particular individual instantly becoming bat-shit crazy.

This took place at a mental health clinic at Camp Liberty Iraq, and there is not enough information available to comment, except to say it’s tragic.

who wants to ban guns?
November 19th, 2009 at 5:35 am
No, we just stop making them do 7 consectutive , back to back tours of duty in Iraq…….before we ship them off to Afghanistan for another 4 or 5 tours.
That sort of thing, can make the best of them a little squirrely.

No, just pass an assault-weapons ban that bans hunting rifles and not AK47s like they did with civilians.
