what age should my kids learn to use an assault rifle?
March 10th, 2010 by eranio
I am thinking of teaching my daughter when she turns 4. she’s 2 right now but she already is good with a 22.
is this too early to be shooting?
my wife thinks it is.

If she’s already good with a .22 than she can move up to a 9mm soon. Wait until she’s 6 before she shoots any automatic weapons.
You’re wife needs to stay in the kitchen.

Your wife is correct.

A sure enough assault rifle? Legally you can’t even touch one until you’re 21 (or older possibly). You have to acquire a special class 3 license I believe.
I hope you aren’t serious though….

Never.
Kids don’t need to use guns at all.

Of course its too young! are you crazy.!
If she is too young to take a gun safety course, she is too young to handle any weapon. Your joking right?

Hey if she can already handle the 22, why not. Maybe you should appease your wife this one time……
sarcasm people…

I think thats too young.. I would say when they are 10. It is not a smart idea unless you take the child to gun safety classes. (the gun noise is just soooo loud for a little one like that)

Yea right, at four years ond she probably can’t even hold the thing up long enough to aim it. Anyway wait until she is at least 14.

it varies from kid to kid. But 4 is too young. My first son was ready at age 8 to own his first .22 rifle (a single shot), my middle son, not till he was 10, and my daughter was ready at age 9.
They all were shooting under my direct control by age 6, with a .22 rifle.
shoot safe

Um yeah, I think you may be crazy and should keep all guns AWAY from children under 12 at least. I hope you’re joking and if you’re not I hope you get a visit from Child Services soon.

omg why would u have weapons around your kid she’s friken 2!!!!! ur wife needs to take ur kid and runnnnnnnn u have NO common sense!!!!

As far as an assault rifle goes legally she has to be 21. However I see no problem with teaching a child at an early age to have a healthy respect for a gun. I was out hunting with my dad and uncles by the time I was 6.

just 1 tip, dont piss off your kid. if shes only 4 and knows how to handle a gun, you can end up dead {or your wife] because she is still a toddler. my dad wouldnt even teach me how to shoot with a water gun and im almost 17!!
March 10th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
As long as she’s aiming it at you, teach her whenever you want!
March 10th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
A 2 year old can not be good with a .22! I’m no fool.
Keep all guns locked up in a gun cabinet, if you can’t afford one, then you can’t afford a gun!
March 10th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
i would shoot your wife. who is she to be telling u how to raise your daughter.
March 10th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
I’m a firm believer in guns, but we didn’t start teaching our kids until they were 7. A 4 year old doesn’t know right from wrong and she could get hurt. I’d say wait 5 more years until she can understand better.

This is obviously a joke question. U need to move to Iraq or Iran. Too bad U don’t have a son. Then U could teach him to slaughter sheep in preparation for his career as a sadist.

thats the perfect age
i mean, theres nothing sick or disturbing about a toddler with a k-bar, and a cute little m-1 helmet holding an assualt rifle
the earlier the better, so she can kill the enemy in world war 3

Ha Ha- so funny, lets call child services and see what they think.

I come from an area where people take off work and skip school on opening day of hunting season, so hearing that you want to teach your daughter at 4 years old comes as no surprise to me. I have a friend who has taught his 4 year old daughter how to shoot his gun.
However, I do suggest she go through a gun safety course.
