I think having scripture on military guns is a dumb idea that puts our troops in even more danger than they already are in.
Having Christian scriptures on the guns may make some people think this is a holy war, which would increase attacks.
And when one of the ten commandments is "Thou Shall Not Kill", it seems rather ironic to put bible verses on the guns.
well as a Christian I have no clue.. you shouldn’t use God’s name as something of a negative meaning..
but it depends.. :\
It violates general order #1. It’s disturbing. And didn’t we already have to explain to the world we’re not on a crusade?
And yet some company decides it wants to be the In’n'out Burger of tools to kill people. That’s perverse.
I think it’s wrong and I am a Christian. The state should never favor any religion on an official piece of equipment. The old mixing church and state argument applies.
Who’s scriptures? Muslim?, Christian?, Hindu?, Pagan? I think this is more a personal venue, scriptures. Weapons on the other hand are utilitary tools. Like a Shovel or a computer. I see not conflict with placing your personal inspirations on anything you like to see them on. It is a matter of personal taste. But on community property, it would have to be up to the community in whole. This enters another arena where part of a community may feel divided should they not agree.
Guns, like swords are tools of armed conflict. When one party makes war against another, the terms of battle are set by the initial offense. If a weapon is engaged to force compliance, a weapon must be used to defend. I am sure the defenders would like to keep their spiritual inspirations before them during such a struggle. So it is strictly a personal venue.
