What do you call someone who studies weapons/guns?
Like on the military channel, if anyone is familiar with the show "Weaponology", what do you call those people who work with guns, give me anything. Gun engineer, weaponologist, mechanincal engineer, like someone who improves guns? Adds add-ons, just in general someone who studies and works with guns?

Nothing. There isn’t a specific job where you just sit around and study guns. There’s LOTS of occupations that require the study of weapons. My field is gunsmithing, so of course I study guns. I got a friend who was an armorer, a LOT different than a gunsmith, but he too studies guns. Then there’s manufacturers, those who engineer them. I don’t know the name of them… I guess they’re just firearm-oriented machinists.
What do you call someone who studies medicine? Family doctors, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Combat Medics ALL study medicine, but are very different.

Try gunsmith. This can be traced to armorers in the military or if your thinking of a weapon specialist then the Army Special Forces Weapons Sergeant would be a good place to look.

a gunsmith by definition is someone who makes or repairs guns – this can include add-ons. i don’t know exactly what you mean by STUDIES with guns, but gunsmith is close enough.

A gunsmith is a craftsman who builds, modifies, and repairs firearms. Someone who studies weapons might be referred to as a hoplologist.

In the Canadian military, there is a trade called "Weapons Tech."
The civillian equivalent would be gunsmith, although Weapons Techs handle all weapons, not just pistols and rifles. They also handle ship’s guns, artillery pieces, and so on.
