What if the Inca and Aztecs had shotguns and sniper rifles before Spanish Conquistadors?

I’ve always thought that the indigenous empires of the New World would have easily resisted European arrival with more advanced technology. I play with stick figures that i draw, one side in native, another is european, and the natives have machine guns. do you think that the Europeans would have easily succumbed if the Natives had modern technology?

I’ll explain first and then make my final decision at the end.

During the Spanish conquest of Central Mexico, Caribbean islands and South America, the Aztecs were certainly no match for their advanced technology. Arquebuses, a primitive form of firearm and possibly muskets were used to dramatically weaken the natives. Cavalry was introduced to break the flanks or surround the enemy from behind, causing despair, panic and dismay, whilst lowering morale. Even mounted horsemen with guns fired and then retreated, quickly taking down the opposing forces. The Spanish Conquistadors had planning and commanders, who directed orders, to control the situation and capitalise on every opportunity. The aztecs were undisciplined savages, with no organisation in their army, which could lead to confusion amidst conflict. They carried simple weapons such as maces, spears and swords made with obsidian, a sharp but fragile volcanic glass. They literally had no armour, using only wooden shields for protection. The Spaniards were covered in steel and iron, making it exceptionally hard to penetrate. Assuming the Aztecs had the knowledge of how to use modern guns, and they could create an effective defensive system to coincide with their warriors, they would probably win. It really depends on the individual circumstances of the confrontation in most cases – the geography of the land, numbers of troops and mistakes made by both sides. The odds are greatly in favour of the Aztecs though – military equipment from our society is totally superior to anything in the Middle Ages from 1500 AD +

    Glad to help.
