What is currently the best sniper rifle/ sight combination in the world?
I’m not a nutjob, don’t worry. I’m just interested to know which one it is in terms of range, accuracy, calibre etc.
Think of it this way, given unlimited funds which would you buy.

If I need to be mobile:
Remington 700 series 30.06
Leupold 3-9×50
Any high grade match ammo works great
If I am at a fixed position
Armalite AR-50 50 BMG
Leupold Competition Series 45 x 45mm
Any high grade match ammo

Well you can get specialty target rifles that achieve supreme levels of accuracy, but if you want something sturdy enough to lug around the bush without needing to be resighted every time you use it, I would still reccomend the British made Parker Hale .243 cal rifle with a Carl Zeiss scope. These aren’t new but have stood the test of time.

well personally the British have a sniper rifle that have been guaranteed to kill at two miles(not available to public) The Barret M2A1(special license to own) has been taking shots easily at a mile. Yet a .243 with a nice scope can easily shoot targets in a two inch group at 1000 yds. A good scope is the Ziess.

The Barrett m82 has the most killing power and range of any man portable rifle. It is a .50 bmg rifle that weighs 30 pounds and has a range in excess of 1800 meters. It is capable of taking out lightly armored vehicles as well as one shot kill infantry. As far as accuracy, the most accurate rifle in the world would be chambered in the 6mm ppc, however it is not recommended for anything except punching paper. .308 is the major cartridge used by police/military forces in the western world, it is commonly used in the remington 700 series of rifles.

Barrett M81A 50 BMG The 50 bcaliber is accurate to well over 1000 yards Scope would be an ATN 12-36×80 50BMG
H&K PSG-1 Sniper rifle 308 caliber is accurate out to 600 yards.
I bought one with a Springfield 6-20×56. Expensive but a nice combo.
700 Remington in 308, or larger

The HK PSG-1 is the best sniper rifle ever produced. It can easily get sub-MOA at very long distances and the 7.62mm bullet is powerful enough to kill at those distances as well.

I would choose the round and build a gun around it. The only true sniper round is the .338 Lapua Mag. In the early eighties, the Armed Forces set out to build a sniper round with enough pwr and accuracy for long ranges yet rifle will still be practical in size. The .338 is a beltless round based on the .416 Rigby that kicks BAD.
These rounds are way x-pensive U can buy brass @ midway. I think live rounds cost about 60-80 dollers.
Some makes of rifles are:
Tikka, Barrett, Sako TRG-S; Armalite AR-30;

I would pick the 22-250 its flat shooting
