What is the difference between Russian’s and Israeli’s military actions?

February 16th, 2010 by eranio

In very recent times the Israelis claimed that one of their soldiers had been kidnapped across the border into Lebanon. They used that as an excuse to devastate the civilian infrastructure of the whole nation of Lebanon.

For a whole month the Jews bombed from the air and flattened by bulldozers apartment blocks, bridges, sewerage works, water reservoirs, buses and fleeing refugees, etc, etc.

It was a repeat of the devastation the Jews had wreaked on Lebanon in the 1980’s when they destroyed civilian infrastructure and murdered thousands of Lebanese. They even attacked and slew thousands of miserable refugees as they huddled in refuge camps.

By contrast, the Russian military has come to Georgia to protect Russian people, 2,000 of whom had been murdered by the Georgians using military weapons supplied by the Jews.

The Russian army is now destroying only military equipment, not the civilian infrastructure as is so often practiced by Israel.

Is it really possible that the war criminal George Bush, his poodle, Condo Rice, along with the whole western press, have not thought to compare the mild actions of the Russians, with the brutality meted out by the Israelis, not only in Lebanon, but in Palestine since 1948?
What is the difference between Israeli invasion of Palestine and Russian dominance in Chechnya?

The difference is that Israel is actually committing war crimes.

    Palestinians aren’t complaining about it.
Have a link for all your statements?

Russia had a REAL reason to attack Georgia.
BTW Israel is all over the Georgian side.

They both use heavy handed tactics by Military force on innocent people when they invade another country.

At least the Russians are not building illegal settlements on the land by bringing in Russian refugees from other countries to put in place of the original occupants.

    ……………………………….
Chechnya was a part of Russia for a long time. And the way Europe believed they fought for their independence is not true. It was their exuse for the crimes they have done. Even peaceful chechens were in big trouble, cause they refused to fight.
US and NATO are behind what happend in Georgia, it wont be a huge surprise if Chechnya was their "product" too, just bugs ‘em Russia will become again what it was before 1917, and even for 70 years after that.
    Russia will become.

about the weapons, well US supplied georgians for free, the of the Europe was selling (no wonder Germany now is "splitted", cause "official Germany boldly and ignoratly supports US, while the rest is with Russians,….and guess what- G36 found in Georgia, and there are doc’s supporting it was coming from Germany)

Your facts are so screwed up I don’t know where to begin. I guess I will start here:

#1. The Lebonese militants invaded Israel and captured several soldiers. The Israeli response was perfectly legitimate due to the nature of Lebonese military action on Israeli soil.

#2. The Israeli military strikes hit areas known to house Lebonese military. Collateral Damage is to be expected.

#3. Hearsay. You have no evidence of that claim.

#4. There are no Russian citizens in South Ossentia. The Russians issued "Russian Citizenship" to all the separatists as a political tool so that they could have an excuse to invade. The 2,000 separatists killed were enemy combatants who attacked the Georgian military as they marched into their own city.

#5. The Russians can’t possibly be targeting military targets since the Georgian military has pulled back to their own capital. Whatever Russia is shelling will add up civilian casualties.

#6. Bush has committed no war crimes. If he had then he would already have been impeached.

#7. Russia’s response is a direct violation of international borders whereas Israel was acting in response to military action. The difference is so large that only a complete moron would compare the two.

Chechen special forces are fighting for Russia now, and took part in a war against georgian terrorists, though some of them fought against regular russian army in the first Chechen war.
I guess both sides in the previous conflict realized its mistakes and have found that they have common goals.
And can you imaging Palestine forces fighting for Israil in Lebanon or another country?

    There is one real difference:
Israel is the great friend of US, and Russia is not.

Since it is US, who determines rules, international law is a very flexible thing.

Aside from the fact that your "facts" are mostly false (e.g. it wasn’t that the Israelis "claimed that one of their soldiers was kidnapped" TWO soldiers WERE kidnapped… nobody disputes that, not even Hizbollah who did the kidnapping) I can think of the following difference:

Georgia is an independent sovereign country that was not presenting an existential threat to Russia or its territory while on the other hand, there is no such independent country by the name of Palestine and terrorist groups do exist that present an existential threat to Israel. Do you argue otherwise?
