    AKSU-74
    Caliber: 5.45x39mm FMJ or JHP
    Payload: 30 box mag
Rate of Fire: Single or Full Auto at 700 rpm

The AKSU was the inevitable carbine version of the AK-47. Brought into service in 1979, the AKSU has evolved from a hard-to-control and inaccurate weapon intended for vehicle crews to a superior special operations tactical weapon. When the 5.45mm AK-74 came into service, the AKSU-74 was quick to follow. The lighter cartridge and well designed conical muzzle compensator make the AKSU-74 much easier to control than its older 7.62mm counterpart. The weapon is an ideal close quarters weapon, small enough for tight maneuvering yet still packing an assault rifle punch. Though new weapons like the 9A-91 and AK-105 are roaring into the Russian CQB scene, the AKSU-74 is still one of the most widely-used tactical weapons in the Russian Federation.

‘AK-74M. The latest variant, issued to the Russian troops since early 1990s. Key differences from the earlier AK-74 rifles are the side-folding plastic buttstock and the scope mounting rail on the left side of the receiver.’

‘At the present time the AK-74M, along with earlier AK-74/AKS-74 is the standard shoulder arm of the Russian Army. ‘

*** ‘The AKS-74U was intended as a personal defense weapon for tanks, guns, helicopters and other vehicles crews, and for the special operations forces, who required a compact but relatively powerful individual automatic weapon.’
