What is the next company the U.S. is going to use for its weapon supply for the military?

I heard that the U.S. was going to get rid of the company that makes the M4 and M16 once the contract is done. I would like to know the company and the names of the guns they are going to go with, due to my interest in the military.

They are not getting rid of Colt Firearms.

What they are doing is announcing a competition for an improved combat rifle.

BTW – even if Colt’s design loses the competition there is a very good chance that they will make the new rifle anyway simply because they are the only company left in the US who can mass-produce military firearms.

despite what others think about H&K getting the contract it will still remain colt because we will never have a foreign manufacturer create our weapons or anything for our military for that matter
