November 8th, 2009 by eranio

Could you give me some pics of sniper rifles that are legal in California.
And please no ugly ones.
Is a AS50 sniper rifle legal in California?
Please let one look cool like a Dragunov or a HK sniper rifle?

The Accuracy International AS50 isn’t cali legal, nor any other rifle using the .50 cal BMG unless you owned it prior to 2005. Other than that, you can pretty much assemble any tacticool rifle you want as long as you follow the AWB regulations. Check out the link below for pictures of many precision / "sniper" rifles owned by Californians, ranging from $300 bolt guns to mega$$ exotics. Post #110 is of a HK SR9T

Here’s a dealer that specializes in Cali-legal HK’s, get yourself a PTR 91 sniper and a quality scope and your good to go:

Closes one that comes close to the look of the AS50 might be the new Barret 98b in .338 Lapua magnum due out sometime this year, although it’s bolt action instead of semi-auto. Should be a sub-MOA rifle with a usable range in excess of 1,000 yards:

Check out post #20 for pics of a Cali-legal PSL ( Dragunov look a like ):

Ok, here we go again. There is no such thing as a sniper rifle. A sniper is a position/job. The rifle, any rifle, in his hands that he has trained with, is a sniper’S rifle.

If you want pictures of rifles, feel free to google them.

Only if the are male and female and married. The female of course will be a smaller caliber and a nicer looking stock

The current U.S. Army M24 rifle is based on a Remington 700 bolt action with a five-shot magazine. The Remington is perfectly legal to own in California.

You can also look for "tactical" rifles offered by several manufacturers, They are also bolt-actions with magazines that are California-legal.

A rifle is only a "snipers rifle" when it is in the hands of a military or police sniper……

In your hands its just a target rifle or hunting rifle……

Anyways — The bolt action rifles on this page are legal in your state….

Didn’t you just ask this a few days ago. The term "sniper rifle" is usually used by the gun ignorant to describe the bolt actions we can buy. We can buy pretty much any type of single shot bolt action the US military has if one has the cash. The term is only used in the military As they are basically just bolt actions with a scope attached. It is forgivable as many people do come here showing off that they don’t know anything.

The only ban in terms of bolt action rifles are on ones chambered in .50BMG.

Damn, I wish non-californians would quit answering questions like this. A lot of fud is spread around by these ignorant fools who think bolt action or single shot guns are the only things legal in California anymore, which isn’t true. Anyway, since the original question was asking about rifles like the HK or Dragunov, yeah, you can get California legal ones, as well as something like the Springfield M1A target model or a AR-10T based rifle.

Get yourself a mosin nagant bolt action gun for about $100, and a good scope like Bushnell 3x – 9x for another $100 dollars. So for about $200 dollars you’ll have a sniper rifle. I think that’s cools.

Please, stop calling a rifle a "sniper" rifle. If you are concerned about what looks "cool", then you shouldn’t even be considering purchasing any gun of ANY creed. Leave the gun ownership to the people who know what a gun can do, and know how to handle one. Let us try to get our rights back, and then we’ll consider allowing you to own a rifle. For your safety, and the safety of others, I suggest you don’t touch any gun of any type. You sound either like an airsoft kid, or a 12 yr. old playing GI joe. Grow up and come back.
