What would be a good airsoft sniper rifle for a more advanced sniper?

February 3rd, 2010 by eranio

I’ve only used one sniper/AEG in most of my airsoft times, i use an SPR with a scope, and I’m thinking of purchasing a sniper rifle, gas or spring operated. What kind of airsoft sniper rifle should I get? Like Tanaka snipers. L96, M700.. etc… I mostly like L96s….

Longer Barrel means more accuracy basically.
A spring or gas sniper (bolt action) will have around max range of 300′ (usually a bit further), but has to be fully upgraded.
It really depends on your prefrence, sacrifice range for firepower or sacrifice firepower for range.
Electrics will never shoot as far as a properly upgraded spring rifle.
Since you already use an SPR with a scope ( I use a G36C with a scope, has an extended prommy m4 length with a TM Barrel extension to cover) You should just upgrade the hopup rubber, get a tightbore, get a hopup bucking, and use .25g BBs at least, but not pass .28g or the FPS downgrade will really reduce your chance of hitting someone.

I’m not much of a sniper, but I do have a couple recomendations. I do like Tokyo Marui Sniper rifles, because they actually work like a sniper rifle. My friend has a VSR-10 bolt action rifle, and I hit a penny dead on 35 meters away. Another one I do like is the TM PSG-1, because it’s semi auto and the scope is really nice, but it’s bat. powered.

If you’re a hard core sniper, I would say gas because it packs a punch, but I don’t like them so much because it takes up a lot of money for gas and it also takes a longer time to reload. Bolt action rifles are probably the best if you want quick reloading and pretty good accuracy.

Another recomendation: don’t get heavy guns, try to keep the weight of the rifle between 3-4 kg. Trust me, don’t get something really heavy, You’ll regret it.

Tip: Longer barrel doesnt always mean better acuraccy, more then the length of barrel you should consider FPS to Weight of BB’s.

Well, the best skirmishable sniper rifle on the market for cheap would be a JG Bar-10, EdGI full upgrade kit and King Arms VSR-10 bucking.

At least this isn’t a "whats the cheapest sniper rifle I can get"

But it all depends on your budget.

I love my Star AW338, some have had lemons though, thats about 500$ avg, I haven’t checked it lately. (I think there was a drop)

Tanaka AICS is a good one (thats your L96) and its fairly cheap, 300ish.

If you want truly the best sniper, you should go with a maruzen l96, and upgrade the heck out of it internally. A guy I know brought one to a game, cost him 1200$ but it was shooting 545 consistently with .3s (mighta been a higher bb, not too sure, although he was shooting way over field limit if he were to put in .2s)

Basically, the best sniper will cost the most money, but it will be a spring sniper. You can use em in all weather, and it will always be consistent. But price is also a factor. Electric isn’t the best, as its going to be semi auto only, and most fields of play will have a problem with that. (you might be limited to 450 fps if they even let you use it)

Longer barrel will give you better accuracy, as well as a tightbore.
And most of the "pro snipers" I know use higher than .3s Some have even requested the hard to find .4s
