What would be the best assault rifle to use in a country like Afghanistan?

January 29th, 2010 by eranio

it cant be a sniper.
carbines are included.
im looking for a gun that would have good accuracy, it has to be reliable, etc.

i think a gun like steyr aug is the best
a gun i think is bad is the m16 because Afghanistan is a dirty country.

Some factors are that the gun may not be cleaned that often and that it would be used for more than a whole day.

The M-16 is fine as long as you clean it. How about an M-14?

I think a tank will fit you needs nicely

AK, everyday, all day. Besides, once you kill a terrorist, you can pick up his ammo and use it, so it’s cheap to use also!

I’d say an M4 Carbine or a SCAR-L. Lots of people are saying AK-47, but that gun simply isn’t accurate enough to warrant bothering with.

Get Crossman 760 Pumpmaster .177 rifles.

    Barrett Rec-7 (aka Barrett M468).

It is a piston driven m-4 style carbine chambered in 6.8mm.

The piston system holds a distinct advantage over the direct gas-impingement system of the classic ar design in that carbon does not enter the receiver, thereby increasing reliability and the number of rounds that can be fired without a jam.

The 6.8mm round is somewhere between the 5.56X45 NATO round, which is an overglorified .22 round, and a .308 round.

NATO switched to the smaller round in order to achieve greater fire superiority. Fire superiority is essentially the ratio of rounds going in either direction during a firefight. if you send more rounds downrange than are coming up-range, eventually your enemy will be forced to take cover, allowing you to take your objective. The rationale for the smaller round is that a) soldiers could carry more of them, and b) they produce less recoil than the .308 round previously in service.

the 6.8mm delivers more power than the 5.56, without the recoil of the .308.

Also, Barrett engineers designed the rec-7 to be impervious to dust/sand, which reduces jams. it also allows you to actually put the proper amount of clp (clean lube protect) on your weapon instead of skimping on it, increasing weapon life and time between arsenal rebuilds.

Finally, it’s all super tactical with Mil-Std 1913 Picatinny rails on the upper receiver, and on all sides of the handguards. You can go "mall-ninja" with the thing.

Carried a weapon in many places…..

There are many weapons that are great and one can rely on that "friend". But hands down if you are mucking around in whatever country an AK is the way to go.

    One that kills insurgents good.

The L85A2 with the latest upgraded ACOG and Front grip, most accurate rifle in the world yet compact enough to use in close quarter combat, although could do with a larger round as it is only 5.56.
