Where can I obtain a sniper rifle for the purposes of filming sitcom scene? ?

Here’s the thing.
I live in the United Kingdom and most firearms are illegal. Rifles, sniper rifles and handguns are all illegal.
I am arranging a scene to be filmed in which somebody puts together a sniper rifle and starts to shoot people. I was wondering if anyone would know where I would be able to get hold of a sniper rifle and a few rounds of blanks?

There are a few movie prop companies in the UK, you might be able to work something out with them.
The question is, why would you want to put a gun in a sitcom. Guns are not funny, they are serious and need to be handled in that fashion. Shooting someone from a distance is even less funny.
