Like you see National guard armories everywhere, are they just a meeting place or are arms their? As for active duty can soldiers ever have access to firearms in off duty times?

They are kept in secured and alarmed vaults inside an alarmed and locked storage room inside a locked building inside a fenced in (and locked) area.
Lest you get any ideas…
If you are Active Duty, you can get access to your firearms when you are off duty if you make prior arrangements with the Arms Room Sergeant to check your weapon out of and back into your unit’s Arms Room.

If there weren’t armaments there, they’d have to call them something else.

i dunno about national guard, I do this full time, but weapons are kept in arms rooms, secure and only certain people should be allowed in. have no fear, no psycho dudes will go get their machine guns on the weekends…you have to sign for them, and getting ammo is even harder to get out.
