Why is it a private “military”/contracor force can own military weaponry including assault weapons?

In the 1986 machine gun ban it states that a civilian can not own an assault weapon made after 1986 and yet companies like Blackwater, that are civilian companies, can.

Probably because it’s employed by the US government.

most likely because Blackwater makes a majority of our militarys weaponry…and most of them are retired military anyways

When you are a private military contractor or PMC, you can get around many regulations at home and abroad that the normal civilians or conventional forces cannot.

Blackwater is considered as mercenaries; thus their rights entitle them to the utilization of their equipments.

The assault weapon ban, banned semi automatic look alike assault weapons.

But if you have a Class lll firearms permit.

You are allowed to buy and own most weapons, including machine guns and fully automatic weapons.
