Why would anyone hire a muslim Extremist to work as a psychiatrist in a military installation?

November 26th, 2009 by eranio

Mohamma Malik Hassan killed 12 people injuring 33 in addition with a fully automatic M-16 (military issued) rifle.Never mind giving him access to a gun, why would they hire this person in the first place?

    Political correctness and liberals.

Well there are Muslims…and there are radical extremists. Given that the majority of Muslims are good peaceful and law-abiding people, how is the military, or any civilian employer for that matter, supposed to know which one of them are the radicals so as not to hire them or allow them to join?

because the extremists are a minority in the Muslim world and most U.S. muslims like this country

Considering the fact that he was not an extremist when he was commissioned, and that the Army had no idea that he would go down this route more than 8 years ago, it’s pointless to even go down that road.

because we’re not mind readers and you can’t deny someone a job solely because of their religion or ethnic backround.

Because you aren’t "hired" in the military. You sign up and are then assigned a post. Do you honestly think there is a military "HR" department pouring over resumes? Plus I’m sure he listed "Muslim Extremist" under his hobbies. Basically the same reason you could probably get a job teaching children, because they can’t check every single nut job who needs to work.

Why did they hire him in the first place?
Because he didn’t have a sticker on his forehead that said "in eight years I’m going to go batsh*t and take out a lot of soldiers."
The fact is, no matter how many controls the military puts in place, there will always be one or two determined people who slip in without detection.
It’s easy to have all this hindsight, but the fact is, until someone like this commits a crime, you don’t know what he or she is capable of. Everyone is capable of horrific violence. We don’t like to be reminded of our vulnerability and fragility, but it’s the truth. He wanted to do this, he waited, and he committed a reprehensible crime. He is responsible for his own actions. We like to blame others around him because it’s scary to think that a determined terrorists can do this kind of thing with no prior warning.

Who said he was a Muslim extremist? Not anyone who is only sticking to the facts, that’s for sure. There is no information posted from a reliable source that says that he did this because he was a Muslim extremist.

He wasn’t "hired", he enlisted. As any American citizen has a right to. Also, I don’t believe he used an M-16 during the attacks.

Are you even making an attempt to get your facts straight before you start posting inflamatory questions like this?

It is against the law to discriminate against religion.

He is Muslim and what he did was pretty extreme. He spoke out against the Army and there have been other discoveries that are very odd.

I don’t know if he is part of an Extremist Group but put you have to admit is acted in an extreme manor and he is Muslim.

Where do you get your information? he used two handguns and why/how in the world would he have a full auto m16? yes he is in the army but, weapons are kept in the armory and this guy was a psychiatrist so he would have an a2 model issued to him which has only burst and semi auto modes of fire. You even managed to get the name wrong.

He was not an extremist, he was a "normal devout Muslim". And this kind of behavior is not really uncommon for a real devout Muslim. Most people ignore the true Muslim ideology and tend to think that a devout Muslim is the same as a devout Christian. Just remember that Osama Bin Laden and his friends are all devout Muslims. Islam encourage all Muslims to use violence whenever is needed to "defend Islam against all unbelievers", and there are many in the Muslim world that interpret that as a war against the West.
Of course we have to be tolerant, compassionate and open minded. But we cannot afford to be naive or to ignore true facts.

It’s the politically correct society Americans have ignorantly allowed to take hold here is what allows such idiocy. The Army not only hired him, they educated him, gave him special privileges and then gave him one promotion after another, even after there were multiple indications of serious conflicts between his religion and his duty to the Army.

The really bad news is, he’s not the only such case and there will be more because based on the new forced code of conduct in this country, it’s better to sacrifice hundreds of innocent lives than to risk offending a Muslim. To do otherwise, would invite all sorts of accusations and law suits that they were being profiled and discriminated against simply because he or she is yet one more raving lunatic Muslim with a tendency toward mass murder.

    Wow. How stupid are you?

    1. The suspect is alleged to have used 2 hand guns, not an M16.

    2. There is ZERO evidence Maj. Hasan is now or ever was a "Muslim extremist", any more so than the soldier who killed 5 of his comrades in Iraq earlier this year. Nobody got worked up over HIS religion.

    3. There is in fact no evidence at this point that his faith had anything to do with what happened. People are filling in that blank on their own based on racist sentiment and racial profiling. How about being a real American and allow due process to work instead of rushing to judgement?

At first, he may not have seemed extreme. However, once the first signs appeared, it appeared to be a case of: Dump him on someone else and don’t let him be my problem.

Nothing to do with political correctness unless generals are saying that they were overruled.

Well here’s the thing; he wasn’t extremist when he was hired but listening to the horror stories of people who came back from Iraq and then being told he had to go over himself, it made him snap and so whatever beliefs he already held, he put those up and used them as a shield to mask his true inner turmoil.
