Would the Founding Fathers approve of the military industrial complex?
President Dwight D. Eisenhower said the military-industrial complex was a very dangerous threat to America. This was 50+ years ago, sure, but his words ring true today, just as George Washington’s words are true 200+ years later.
Americans are surrounded by guns and violence in the media and in real life all the time. Politicians have done a good job in using their scare tactics against Americans, like when they say that it is necessary to give up some of your freedom for national security, or something of the sort.

Spending so much on military means you have to justify it. That’s why we must always have an enemy to fight, must always intervene in other countries and must always send our boys to die.
If we weren’t kept in constant fear we might realize that spending more than the next 15 countries combined is the reason we can’t afford to take care of our people like every other industrialized country can.

The guns part sucks, but the military industrial complex provides a lot of jobs for people in that sector.
With everything, we have to accept the good and the bad. No Military-Industrial Complex, and the economy collapses.

How in the world are we supposed to know what someone else is thinking today, let alone 200+ years ago? That was so long ago that there is no real reference point to our world today. Those people back then couldn’t have realized nor understood cars, planes and automatic weapons. How in the world would they comprehend the so-called military-industrial complex?

Probably.
There isn’t much else being "Made In America".
